According to research by insurance company Hiscox, the number of UK homeowners opting to improve rather than move in the last five years has trebled. High house prices, a sluggish property market, Brexit uncertainty and concerns around interest rate hikes were all quoted as reasons for their unwillingness to relocate. Bathroom and kitchen refurbs are the most popular projects, but loft conversions are also on the rise, seeing growth of 114%.
57%of homeowners admit being too lazy to recycle, says a study by Heat Insulation. 37% of respondents felt it was too hard and 14% cited a lack of financial incentive. Meanwhile, 28 individuals surveyed didn’t think that global warming was a real issue. Managing director Ricky Swann says that UK households account for 10% of all of the greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, and this could be dramatically lowered if we all made an effort to be more green.
