Timber cladding
One of the most challenging parts of the build was achieving the crisp, clean details that establish the contemporary character. “We didn’t want big, cumbersome edges,” says Aileen. Th e couple spent a lot of time coming up with a sharp profile for where the corners of the windows and doors met the Siberian larch cladding. “Once we got an arrangement we were happy with, we went to Russwood, our supplier,” says Aileen. “We chose a superior grade of wood to ensure the surface wasn’t too knotty, and they made the profiles to the pattern we’d agreed with the builder.” Th e timber covering was treated with Sioo to achieve an attractive bleached effect.
