I know many complain when days shorten and short sleeves have to be covered up by a cardigan, but honestly so much happens at this time of year that compulsive cake creators have a wealth of ‘special events’ to prepare for.

A favourite event for my family, and one my grown up sons return home for, is our annual bonfire. Hubby delights in torching what is left of summer’s growth (and any nearby wood he can pinch) whilst I delight in home made fudge, toffee apples and a bonfire night themed cake. This year though I am in bad books as we are forced to break tradition for the first time, and are now celebrating November 5th on Halloween, and I have to make 2 cakes for that one night as a forfeit.

The reason I had to risk the wrath of my family? MY own special event of the year - Cake International. Page 38 lists this year’s main demonstrators and Cake are delighted to sponsor dems by Gill Collier, Ruth Wyld & PaulaMcLeod. I urge you to sign up for tickets in advance, as tickets are selling fast. I’ve also just finalised the line up for demonstrators on our own stand, and we will have six of the very best for you to see for free; more detail in next month’s pages.
