Russian driver is banned

LOW-SPEED swerving about on an Islay road after a night at the Malts Festival cost a man from Moscow his licence and £400.

Ilya Zagumennykh, 37, whose address was Khamovnichesky Val, Moscow, appeared in handcuffs from custody, at Campbeltown Justice of the Peace Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while over the drink drive limit.

The procurator fiscal depute told the court that Zagumennykh claimed he had drunk one and a half pints of beer before the police stopped him on the A847 between Port Charlotte and Bruichladdich.
