Protesters pour cold water on council pier access restriction

A SIGN banning access to Campbeltown’s fishing quay netted more than 550 social media protests in a day.

Campaigners who want unrestricted access to the quay, for rod fishing and watching the seals, are incensed and claim that Argyll and Bute Council is trying to remove an age old custom in the Wee Toon.

Protestors claim that the council does not have permission for the sign. In addition they say that due to the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 the public has rights of access for recreational and other purposes.
