Noughties household name Toploader and 80s legends Hue And Cry are confirmed for the line-up at this year’s Oban Live, June 2 and 3. The two acts have been added to an already impressive bill at Argyll’s largest live music event, at Mossfield Stadium. The event attracted 7,800 visitors last year to Oban. Playing Friday night, June 2, Toploader will perform tracks from their highly anticipated fourth album Seeing Stars, released May 12. Their new single, Roll With The Punches, was premiered on Graham Norton’s Radio 2 show in February. Classics such as their global hit Dancing in the Moonlight, from 2000, are also set to be highlights on the night. Their visit to Oban will be the band’s second trip to the West Coast since they headlined Tiree Music Festival in 2012, a gig that saw Skerryvore piper Martin Gillespie join them on stage for a bagpipe solo during Dancing in the Moonlight. Meanwhile, Pat and Greg Kane of Hue And Cry are all set for their evening performance at Oban Live as an eight piece full band on Saturday June 3.
The brothers, who hails from Coatbridge near Glasgow, made a huge impact in the late 80s with hit singles, including Labour of Love, and albums Seduced and Abandoned and Remote. Their Oban Live gig will showcase tracks from their new Pocketful of Stones album, due for release this year.
