Salmon farm is a giant leap forward

THE WORLD’S largest landbased tank for growing full-size salmon has been revealed at Machrihanish airbase.

It was constructed by Norwegian seafood producer Niri, which was formed in Maloy in 2006.

The salmon farm, first publicised by the Courier in August 2014, has finally reached production with around 26,000 fish now swimming in the tank built inside the old Gaydon Hangar.
