Greek cruise ship at Tarbert

THE GREEK cruise ship Orpheus called at Tarbert, Loch Fyne, last Friday for the first and possibly last time. She was on a fortnight’s trip from France to Shetland via Ireland, the Hebrides, Isle of Man and Scilly Isles.

At 366ft and 4,142 tons, she is one of the largest ships to call at the small Kintyre port but her draught was too deep to berth at the east pier and passengers came ashore in launches. P & O Swan Hellenic, who operate the ship, chartered coaches at Tarbert to take passengers to Crinan, Kilmichael, Crarae Gardens and Inveraray.
