Store your Boat for the Boat winter

WITH the end of the boating season fast approaching, it is time to look at plans for winter lay-up ashore unless you keep your boat in the water year round. Many owners already have their space booked at the boatyard or at home. However, those still looking for space need to make sure they are booked in as soon as possible. Hard-standing requirements such as proximity to electricity and water will have to be considered as well as haul-out procedures and timing. If time undercover is needed, book this as well. Early discussion with the yard manager is important.

Good preparation for winter lay-up pays dividends for keeping your craft in good and seaworthy condition. A winter work and maintenance plan is best prepared whether work is to be carried out by the yard or the boat owner. Tasks can then be ticked off when completed.
