First and foremost, a Happy New Year to everybody! Everyone here at Classic Car Buyer hopes you had a relaxing and refreshing festive holiday that was as joy-filled as all the supermarket and department store television adverts suggested that Christmas should be. I’m sure that there will be some hardy souls out there who managed to get out and about in there classic cars during the festivities but the weather wasn’t exactly kind to us this year, with storms, floods and heavy rain conspiring against us. Still, as you’ll read in our news section this week, 18 inches of the wet stuff around Brooklands’ famous clubhouse didn’t stop the Museum from holding its popular New Year’s Day classic car meet, though sadly the weather on the day meant it was never going to be a record-breaker… The was respite from the rain for most of us on Boxing Day and this week’s issue also includes reports of two popular meetings in Romsey and Wickham. I had a quiet one this year as I was around 200 miles away from where my classics are kept, enjoying Christmas with family in Wales. That said, even if I wanted to take the Triumph Toledo for a winter run I couldn’t, given its current fuelling problem – something which it developed just as I was putting the finishing touches to the Christmas issue of CCB. With not a lot of time to investigate what was at fault I only had time to have a quick look at the plugs, leads and points, but they all seemed fine. Jack and I are going to roll our sleeves up this weekend and find out exactly what’s causing the problem – I’ll hopefully be reporting back with good news next week… If you’re facing something a little bit more involved than what I’ve just described in order to put your pride and joy back on the road in time for spring then you might want to give the final part of Peter Simpson’s abridged guide to classic car restoration a read.
