It’s been said many times before, but it bears repeating. Kevin Rowland truly is one of the great one-offs in the music world. Few have thought more deeply about putting together a complete package for a band than the Dexys leader.
As you can see from the striking new photoshoot, their 2021 incarnation is just as eye-catching as ever. I’m reminded of Issue 69’s Classic Album feature for Searching For The Young Soul Rebels where Rowland set out his original mission statement: “I’ll form a great group, we’ll wear great clothes and make soulful music.”
