Haircut One Hundred members Nick Heyward, Les Nemes, Graham Jones and Blair Cunningham are to reform for a special one-off show at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 12 May to celebrate the (Covid-adjusted) 40th anniversary of the band’s debut album, Pelican West.
The reunion follows a remastered and expanded reissue of the album, due out on 24 February via Demon Music, boasting 54 previously unreleased tracks. The original long-player featured three Top 10 UK singles in Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl), Love Plus One and Fantastic Day and reached No.2 in the UK Albums Chart.
The 4CD set offers up the original album as well as a disc of 12” mixes and B-sides, demos for their unfinished second LP with Heyward – who left during its making – and a live set from Hammersmith Odeon from early 1982. It also boasts a 44-page booklet featuring an oral history of the band and includes exclusive photographs from the personal collections of Jones and Nemes.
