Finally out on vinyl, Silver Sun’s 1997 debut is comfortably the best British power-pop LP of the 90s. The late James Broad was simply perfect at harmonising and taut riffs, the mid-point between The Beach Boys and Ramones. Golden Skin and Lava remain essential singalongs, capturing the Londoners’ ability to fit as many choruses as possible into less than three minutes. Second album Neo Wave sounded rushed, the melodies failing to gel. A vinyl release of 2005’s wildly entertaining and eccentric Disappear Here would be welcome, too.
