One of numerous books published to mark McCartney’s 80th birthday, Paul is a collection of photographs – many rare or unpublished – from one of his most trusted lensmen. Originally published as a deluxe item with a hefty price tag to match, this edition dispenses with some of the more lavish presentational aspects of that version but contains all the content to meet a more pocketfriendly price.
Esteemed photographer Harry Benson, renowned for his contributions to magazines such as Vanity Fair, Life and People, developed a rapport with McCartney when he first photographed The Beatles during the making of A Hard Day’s Night in 1964 and maintained a working relationship with him for the next three decades. Benson was granted unprecedented access which allowed him to visit the McCartneys at their home in Scotland with his young family in the 70s, on tour with Wings in the US and on his farm in the 1990s – shots from all of which are included here.
