Though she reinterpreted The Bends in its entirety for her outstanding 2021 album, Rosie Carney’s not shaken off her Radiohead fixation. The brittle Break The Ground and gauzy Chihiro are drenched in their breakthrough album’s fragile yearning and Sugar’s full of murmured tension. Despite its title, though, Carney’s voice is crystal clear and optimistic, whether multitracked on the lo-fi Bus or at her most hushed, making her tribute to Dad as uplifting and dreamy a dirge as one could wish for and Send Me Home as warm as a hug.
