In 2000, Gary Numan was in no mood to celebrate Jesus’ Big Birthday: his 14th studio album Pure – now reissued as a double vinyl set – was the third in an unholy trinity that had Christian dogma firmly in its crosshairs. Recorded live at Brixton Academy, 2003’s Scarred found Numan mixing Pure’s industrial rock with crowdpleasing hits, including Cars and Are ‘Friends’ Electric? Its re-release comes in the form of two white vinyl discs – presumably in honour of the colour absolutely no-one was wearing on the night.
