Despite debut LP How Beautiful Life Can Be making No.1, Wigan quartet The Lathums haven’t had it easy, losing their bassist, with bookending tracks Struggle and Undeserving documenting singer Alex Moore’s unease with success. He should prepare for more: Turmoil sounds like The Housemartins’ mythical follow-up to Caravan Of Love, while Facets and Lucky Bean have a new energy hinted at on single Sad Face Baby. Whatever issues the band have been dealing with, it’s led to some mighty tunes.
