Gorillaz are ditching the traditional album and single release format, instead opting for weekly transmissions – dubbed Song Machine – from their own Kong Studios with an everchanging list of collaborators.
First up is the punky Momentary Bliss featuring slowthai and Slaves. As CP went to press, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker was set to be the next guest. Gorillaz drummer Russel Hobbs said: “Song Machine is a whole new way of doing what we do. We don’t know who’s stepping through the studio door next. It feeds on the unknown, runs on pure chaos. Whatever’s coming, we’re ready to produce like there’s no tomorrow.”
