John Luongo was one of the most influential remixers of the 70s and 80s. Starting out during disco, he worked on tracks by artists as diverse as Billy Idol, Blancmange, Rick Springfield, Cabaret Voltaire and Shakin’ Stevens. Accordingly, the latest in the Arthur Baker Presents series is nothing if not eclectic. Never unfocused, Luongo consistently hones in on what’s best about the songs he’s reworking and makes you listen anew even to a track as overly familiar as Tina Turner’s The Best.
