August has been a busy month for me. On the 8th I travelled up to East Yorkshire Clay Shooting Ground for the English Open ABT.
Leah scooped the ladies and juniors as well as third overall in the English Open at Bywell
On day 1, I started on peg 3 at 9.30am and didn’t finish until 3.45pm due to the long breaks in between each round. I shot 21, 23, 21 and a 23, for a score of 88 ex-100. The following day I started on peg 6. This was the first time I have ever shot on a round of six people, and my first time starting on that peg. I found it a bit difficult to fathom out at first, but I got used to it quite quickly. I shot 22, 25, 25 and 22, scoring 94 ex-100. That was my personal best in ABT, as well as my first 25 and 50 straight, so I was over the moon!
Going into my last line, there were four juniors on 160 ex-175. My combined total of 182 ex-200 placed me third in juniors, second in ladies, sixth in B Class (a temporary classification) and 28th overall. Huge congratulations to Lucy Hall who came first in both ladies and juniors.
The following weekend, I competed at Fauxdegla SG for the West Midlands Area DTL and Single Barrel Championships. Visibility was poor, and it rained most of the day - but there was no wind! I shot the DTL in the morning and was pleased with my 97/285, which was my best score over the past few DTL shoots. I even had a 25/75 to finish! I shot the Single Barrel in even thicker fog than what we’d had in the morning. I shot a steady 23, 25, 23 and 20 to give me a 91 ex-100 - gold in ladies and silver in juniors for both disciplines.
