Recently, I met one of those cotagers who really loves the lake. The time with family, the time in the wild. His eyes even lit up when he talked about his water iltration system. He gave me the feeling he knows his good fortune to have a cotage, and that he strives to keep it in shape so it will last forever. In the summer, his family endured several stressful weeks as they watched the Parry Sound 33 ire burn closer to their French River, Ont., cotage. As I followed that ire’s progress, and the many others across Canada amid ever-more record-breaking high-temperature days, I felt angry. And, frankly, terriied.
