Back in 2010 a new mobile platform launched. Within two years it was bought by Facebook for $1 billion. The name? Instagram. Today the platform has some 500 million monthly users and more than 95 million photos and videos are uploaded every day. Of that vast wealth of content, food is a big part of the business. The hashtag ‘#food’ has over 252 million posts, ‘#foodporn’ 147 million and ‘#yummy’ 108 million.
