Nothing makes me feel older or more tired than the annual promise of ‘New year, new you’. Whether it’s dry January or a new year detox diet, at this time of year we are always exhorted to change our wicked ways. But strict diet rules are not sound principles for the rest of your life and by the time the clocks go forward, most of us will have gone back. Our old selves are nothing if not stubborn.
