For vast swathes of the country, Sunday is get-together day. What better moment to treat friends and family by cooking Angela’s Italian Sunday lunch feast – and support the brilliant charity Action Against Hunger at the same time

When was the last time you blocked out your Sunday diary, switched off the ‘always-on’ social media apps, ignored emails and spent time focused solely on friends, family and great food (okay, and some wine)? Taking the chance to slow down, eat, think and enjoy is an all-too-rare luxury in these supercharged times.

That’s something chef Angela Hartnett MBE, chef-patron of London’s Murano and Cafe Murano restaurants, recognises. Sunday lunch at Cafe Murano, served family-style, is a delectable, relaxing antidote to the ‘I’ve-got-no-time’ brain strain.

Angela is a long-time supporter of the charity Action Against Hunger, too, so this menu has another dimension. The idea is that when you invite people over you ask everyone to make a contribution to the charity’s Love Food Give Food initiative. Perhaps you could even double the recipes and cook for 12. Says Angela: “I’m humbled by the exceptional work the charity does, and Love Food Give Food is no exception. It’s a great way to raise awareness for such an important cause, and Action Against Hunger makes it simple to support and contribute.”
