Are you often a bit down on yourself? Do you find yourself going through periods of low confidence and selfesteem? Heck, most of us do. But while it’s part of the “normal” human journey to experience some emotional adversity, we – as gay and bi women – have additional barriers to break through.
Society has come a long way, and we have an awful lot to celebrate and look forward to. But the unfortunate fact still remains: we are queer women living in a heteronormative world. We can face prejudice in the workplace, housing, family and even in the street. We cannot change how others may view us. But the upshot is: we can change how we view ourselves and this is what really matters.
The million-dollar question is this – how can we learn to develop a thicker skin? How can we bounce back in the face of adversity? Here’s how I did it and how I hope you can, too.
