Over the past quartercentury, Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette have been involved in numerous great indie dramas and queerfriendly projects, but sadly this cancer movie about female friendship isn’t one of them. After an anaemic Twilight and criticallypanned Red Riding Hood, Catherine Hardwicke can’t seem to stop turning out dull, clunkilywritten movies. While this one does give a clear picture of the suffering caused by breast cancer, it’s hard to care about its underdeveloped characters: it’s never clear what’s behind Milly’s bagirl exploits or Jess’s strangely frozenfaced attempts to support her dying friend. Plus, there are no houseboats that spacious in London...
