››TACKLING HOMOPHOBIA
The Australian Football League (AFL) is taking positive steps towards ending homophobia in the code with the League’s first Pride Match, to be played between St Kilda and the Sydney Swans on August 13 at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne. The Pride match was inspired by Jason Ball of the regional AFL club, Yarra Glen. Jason is the first, and only, openly gay AFL player. The Pride Match will be similar to the Indigenous Round, which aims to combat racism.
