A “WORK” HOLIDAY

A FIVE-STAR RESORT HOLIDAY WITH A NIP-AND-TUCK, DENTAL WORK OR FACELIFT AS PART OF THE PACKAGE IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY POPULAR WITH WESTERNERS VISITING SOUTHEAST ASIA. IT MAY BE CHEAPER THAN HAVING THE SAME WORK DONE AT HOME BUT, WARNS DR ZAC TURNER, DO YOUR RESEARCH.

So you’ve made the decision to travel overseas for a surgical procedure. You’ve just arrived in another country, let’s say Thailand. Your wallet is fat with cash and it’ll soon to be the last thing fat about you – that’s the purpose of the trip, in fact. You’ve chatted to a couple of mates who know someone who knows someone else and you’re ready for a little bit of a nip-and-tuck and some lypo. Well, this is exactly the wrong way to go about organising cosmetic surgery overseas.

Arranging a “cosmetic surgery holiday” can be daunting as there are many factors to consider. There’s the cheap-and-cheerful option, which I would never recommend. It’s a more complicated process of finding the best surgeon and the right price for you. In this article, I’m going to discuss these questions and others you should ask yourself before you jet off.

I have a number of patients who are currently overseas having surgery, and there is no doubt in my mind that the quality in many other countries is absolutely brilliant. In fact, several of the surgeons I’ve worked with overseas are as good as any I’ve seen in Australia. There are brilliant practitioners who’ve done a great many successful operations, from dental work to “mummy makeovers”. (A mummy makeover includes a full facelift, breast augmentation, tummy tuck, liposuction and hair transplant.)
