THE NEXT BIG THING
THE ASSASSINATION OF GIANNI VERSACE
Season two of American Crime Story dramatises the murder of the famous Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace, played by Edgar Ramirez. The high-profile, openly gay designer was shot dead on the steps of his home in Miami Beach in 1997, at age 50, by serial killer Andrew Cunanan, who’d murdered at least four other people that year. Glee’s Darren Criss stars as killer, Cunanan, with Penelope Cruz (above) as Donatella Versace and Ricky Martin as Gianni’s partner. The first season of the true crime anthology, American Crime Story: The People Vs OJ Simpson was extremely successful, receiving critical acclaim and award nominations.
