Your views on everything going on in the hectic world of Doctor Who...

Sorry guys, Frobisher’s not here this month. But we do have some lovely letters from all you very nice people about our 500th issue...

Getting Stuck In!

JOE CASSELS SAXMUNDHAM Doctor Who Magazine Issue 500 was nothing short of spectacular. When I unwrapped the special cardboard sleeve and saw the sheet of stickers, my face lit up. The pictorial history was a case study in nostalgic warmth. It brought back lovely memories and made me realise that I may love DWM even more than I love Doctor Who itself.

Best issue ever! The front cover was genius; I got a huge wave of nostalgia as soon as I set eyes upon it. I also loved the free stickers and that lovely panorama. It almost made me want to buy a second copy as I did all those years ago with Issue 1, just so that I could stick the Doctor on the surface of Sigma. If you’d still been 12p I probably would. Happy times and places indeed. I have reserved the last word for Sir Dez of Skinn – Legend!

I was a bit sceptical at the tenner cover price at first, but the whole package of both magazines, stickers, art card et al took me back in my own personal TARDIS to 1979 and the very first issue bought from my local newsagents. I was aged 14. Never missed an issue once. And for the very first time ever, I have just signed up to a subscription. Every four weeks can’t come soon enough!

You know, I’m not much of a hoarder. I’m not a fan of clutter, but I am a fan of Doctor Who and every month I get my DWM. I read it, enjoy it, then recycle it. Not with number 500. I will be making an enormous exception. I shall be keeping this one. Doctor Who deserves a publication as good as yours and, in all honesty, the publication has always been so good that it deserves a show like Doctor Who.

I’m so thrilled that DWM has been around for 500 issues, most of which were around long before I was born, which leaves me in awe that a magazine can be so brilliant and it can last for so long.

500 issues, that’s staggering. And a little daunting for other magazines who have tried and failed to be where you are at this moment in time. You’ve outlasted everyone! The production team behind the scenes, in whatever iteration, have been nothing less than fantastic at bringing us essential Doctor Who reading material since 1979. Keep up the great work forever, please!
