Jared Garfield and Lily Travers play the new Ben and Polly – those fab companions straight from the swinging 1966 scene of The Kinks, The Beatles and The Stones…
Jared Garfield as Able Seaman Ben Jackson in Twice Upon a Time…

Meet Ben and Polly, the Doctor’s pluckiest pair of 1960s travelling companions. Six-foot-one Jared Garfield, 26, is a former Hollyoaks heartthrob. He left the Channel 4 soap earlier this year after a 16-month stint, when his character, Nathan Nightingale, fell to his death out of a window. (Classic Hollyoaks!) He’s also a dancer and choreographer, who co-runs London’s Protocol Dance Company.

Lily Travers, 27, comes from a family of acclaimed actors. Her grandmother is Virginia McKenna, best known for 1966 film Born Free, and Lily’s first cousin once removed (ie, her dad’s cousin) is none other than Penelope Wilton, aka Harriet Jones MP (later PM), sometime ally to the Ninth and Tenth Doctors. Lily herself has a knack for playing posh: her big-screen roles include Lady Sophie Montague-Herring in 2014 spy film Kingsman: The Secret Service and Lady Pamela Mountbatten in British-Indian historical drama Viceroy’s House earlier this year.

In Twice Upon a Time, Jared and Lily take on the parts originated, in black and white, by Michael Craze and Anneke Wills.
