Last month, four 21st-century Doctor Who stories were adapted as Target novelisations: 2005’s Rose, the 2005 Christmas Special The Christmas Invasion, 2013’s 50th Anniversary Special The Day of the Doctor and the 2017 Christmas Special Twice Upon a Time. You’ve been telling us what you think of the new books…

Target Range

MARTYN DORE LONDON Just want to say how much I enjoyed your article on the new Target books in DWM 524 – as well as reading the books themselves! So far I have only finished Rose and it brought a smile to my face every time it referenced something that would happen in later episodes. I’m looking forward to reading the others and maybe trying to get hold of some of the older titles too.

RICHARD LLOYD EMAIL As a younger fan, I’m thrilled that some of the episodes I grew up with are now immortalised as Target novelisations. What’s fascinating about these books is the new insights they offer. Steven Moffat’s take on The Day of the Doctor is a good example. Told from the perspective of multiple Doctors, with reinstated material from the draft script and plenty of metatextual references, it is a joy to read. It’s so exciting to be able to experience episodes from my childhood in a new way, just like fans that read the original Target Books.
