The Third Doctor

Australian comedian Rob Lloyd recently completed a UK tour of his one-man show Who, Me, in which he discussed his affinity with David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor. Now he explains how he evokes Jon Pertwee’s incarnation of the Time Lord – on a budget…

One of the beautiful things about Doctor Who is the easy accessibility of its cosplay. There are so many options for fans, depending on your level of commitment to the task and your skill as a costume maker. Doctor Who cosplayers aren’t required to spend thousands ordering a screen-accurate copy of a costume, or to spend hours hand-crafting something from scratch. You can simply chuck on a scarf, a wide-brimmed hat and… boom! You’re the Fourth Doctor!

I have most affection for Doctor Who cosplay when it comes from second-hand shops. Indeed, I see second-hand clothing shops as the true home of Who cosplay. It’s for anyone, and money shouldn’t be a barrier.
