It’s not long now until Doctor Who returns to our screens. As anticipation for Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor grows, here’s how some of you are preparing for the launch of Series 11…

A New Dawn

My sons (ages 10 and 11) and I have recently finished watching every episode of Doctor Who from 1963’s An Unearthly Child through to 2017’s Twice Upon a Time. It’s taken a long time (Charlie, the eldest, was 7 when we started) but we’re finally up to date and I no longer have to keep spoilers hidden from them. I even had to hide my DWM covers to stop them finding out that Missy was the Master, or that the First Doctor was coming back! So it’s with a great deal of excitement that I will finally be able to sit down and watch my favourite TV show with my children, and experience the shocks, surprises and thrills along with them. I can’t wait – and neither can they!

From the trailers that have been released, Series 11 looks spectacular. And when the writers were revealed I was pleased to see that Malorie Blackman’s writing for Doctor Who again. (She wrote a short story which was first published in the show’s 50th Anniversary year.) When episode one airs, I’ll probably be doing the usual: sitting in front of the TV five minutes before it airs ready to watch. In the meantime, as Series 1 to 10 are on iPlayer, I can just sit back, relax, and bask in Doctor Who‘s warm autumnal glow.
