If the word ‘fan’ suggests unconditional devotion, then I must admit there were times in the 1980s when I questioned whether I was still a fan of Doctor Who. As a young viewer I used to watch the series withmy dad, and I remember we bothstruggled withsome of the episodes in Season 23. In 1987 we drifted away from the show, having felt for some time that it had lost its way.
