“I’m the Doctor!”

From the top of a crane in Sheffield to the mists of the planet Ranskoor Av Kolos, Jodie Whittaker talks us through the highlights of her first year as the Doctor.
The new Doctor (Jodie Whittaker), still dressed in the tattered remains of her predecessor’s clothes, in The Woman Who Fell to Earth (2018).

“Working on that first episode is going to stay with me forever. You just can’t beat it because everything was brand new.”

Over since the Thirteenth Doctor crash-landed onto our screens in The Woman Who Fell to Earth, the internet has been alight with fan reactions to Series 11’s eclectic mix of episodes. But what has the Doctor herself made of it all?

Jodie’s Doctor won favour with the critics from the off. In its review of The Woman Who Fell to Earth, The Guardian wrote: “Towards the end of the episode, as Whittaker confronts the alien menace, viewers are left in no doubt that she is very much the Doctor.” For Jodie, that confrontation with Stenza warrior Tzim-Sha atop a crane was her Doctor-defining moment.
