THE DOCTOR AND PERI VISIT RAVOLOX, A PLANET in the Stellian galaxy with the same mass, angle of tilt and period of rotation as Earth. They are surprised to discover the ruins of the London Underground station at Marble Arch and realise that Ravolox is actually Earth – more than two million years in Peri’s future and two light years from where it should be.

You’ve controlled your pointless little empire for too long. Now you can’t see anything beyond it!” The Doctor, Part Four

In a network of subway tunnels, the Doctor finds a biosphere inhabited by human ‘work-units’ in thrall to the Immortal, the god-like autocrat of Marb Station. In reality, the Immortal is Drathro, a huge L3 robot that arrived on Earth 500 years earlier as guardian to a trio of Andromedans. Drathro’s charges had broken into the Matrix on Gallifrey and stolen scientific secrets which they planned to take back to Andromeda. In anticipation of the Time Lords’ retribution, Drathro was programmed to maintain a survival chamber for the Andromedans, keeping them in suspended animation until they could be returned to their home planet. Centuries later, Drathro continues to preserve the subterranean UK Habitat even though the ‘Sleepers’ are long dead.
