Meet The Parents meets Daddy’s Home 2 in this cheap-’n’-churned-out action comedy from Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison banner. It sees Adam DeVine in the Sandman mould as a giggling, manchild bank manager unwittingly led into a bank-robbery life by his wayward in-laws-to-be. DeVine overplays it, but the veterans are on better form: Pierce Brosnan chews on scenery, going full Taffin (choice line: “That’s my cock, you idiot!”, screamed during an impromptu skydive); Airplane!’s Julie Hegarty plays an anxious mum with a secret orgy past; and Richard Kind plays a nebbish patriarch with “traveller’s diarrhoea”. Seldom will it make you laugh, but it’s the kind of film purpose-built to be half-watched while you’re doing something else, and on that front at least, it’ll do.
