The Boss leads the way.
Cadwell was cold, but it was also a laugh. The highlight was watching Carl pass Boothy on the test day ‘by accident’ when his bike jumped out of gear into Park, nearly skittling them both. I’m not sure who was the most surprised, but it made for great viewing. Apparently my constant jettisons off of the Suzuki’s seat were also entertaining. I had a couple of guys drop by the awning and tell me how impressed they were after landing my arse on the tank after one big moment. I’ve still got a lot to learn about thous, and throttle application’s right up the top of the list. Still, it’s awesome having so much power on tap, and now I’ve got the bike handling half decent I’m hoping to step up my game when we head to Anglesey for round three. It was nice to finish in the top 10 in the Pirelli class, scrapping it out with some pretty tasty riders, but I also had a mare of a time in one race, losing seven places to arm pump in my worst finish of the weekend (15th). These bikes are physical, and doing a double stint in the endurance probably didn’t help my performance in the sprints. At times like that, when you’re struggling to hold on, wondering if you’ve got the strength to use the brakes or twist the throttle fully, you kick yourself for not eating two whole Weetabix in the morning. Boothy never gets tired on a bike, and if you saw how much he ate, you’d understand why. He told us he pitted by accident in the three-hour race, having misread our pit board, but I reckon he was actually after a quick snack to keep him going. I’m not here to judge. But I am here to have a good time, which is exactly what I did at Cadwell with No Limits, Kime Racing and the Fast Bikes boys.
