STUDY SHOWS PROGESTERONE DOES NOT PREVENT MISCARRIAGES

A significant discovery that progesterone does not prevent miscarriages has been revealed. The prestigious New England Journal of Medicine recently published a landmark trial looking at the effectiveness of progesterone treatment in preventing miscarriages, with telling results: 836 women with at least three previous miscarriages without an identified cause were randomised to receive either progesterone vaginal suppositories or a placebo starting early in pregnancy. There was no difference in the live birth rate between the two groups, showing that progesterone treatment is not effective in improving outcomes in women with recurrent pregnancy loss.
