THE REVERSIBLE VASECTOMY SWITCH

A new vasectomy valve could offer an instant reversal – but may have long term effects.

A German inventor has created the Bimek SLV, a ‘spermatic duct valve’ which allegedly offers men a indefinite form of instantly reversible contraception. Clemens Bimek, the inventor, was watching a documentary about contraception when he got the idea for the device, which is essentially a small switch, 1.8cm long and weighing just two grams, implanted in the spermatic ducts. Once in place, the closed switch prevents sperm cells from being ejaculated and they are reabsorbed into the body, in the same way a normal vasectomy works.
