FROM A PATIENT PERSPECTIVE

A column by Jessica Hepburn, author of The Pursuit of Motherhood. This month: THE ART OF INFERTILITY

I did think about calling my column this month the Art of ART. For those of you not familiar with the acronym, ART stands for 'Assisted Reproductive Technology', the scientific processes used to achieve pregnancy, including IVF, donor conception and surrogacy. But I was a bit worried a title like that might put people off. Many still prefer their art in watercolour or oils, depicting recognisable things. The Art of ART sounds a bit postmodern and pretentious as if it could be a pile of test-tubes in a white space.
