Keeping up with the Jonas

Over the past 18 months or so, Nick Jonas has transformed himself from a squeaky clean teen pin-up to a credible and sexy grown-up pop star. As he prepares to drop his slick ‘n’ soulful new album Last Year Was Complicated, we caught up with the man himself to talk music, body image and being an LGBT ally – whether we like it or not…

What do you think when you hear the name Nick Jonas? Actually, don’t answer that – it’s not cocktail hour yet. But the point is this: the singer, actor and LGBT ally (more on this later) is aware there may be “some misconceptions” about him. “Probably the biggest misconception is that I’m quiet – that I’m reserved and very serious. Because I do give off that vibe at first,” Nick tells us as we chat at his record label’s London HQ. “But I’m a very fun person to be around once you loosen me up. Hopefully there are sparks in interviews and things where I do show my more goofy side.”
