Conchita Wurst What It Feels Like for a Girl

In her most revealing interview yet, Eurovision star Conchita speaks out about teen bullying, drag dreams and the Hollywood hunks she wants to date

It’s been a frenzied few weeks for this drag queen from Austria. In the time it would take the rest of us to make a cuppa, Conchita Wurst had captured the hearts, minds and votes of a continent. Her Bondstyle belter, Rise Like a Phoenix, bagged a winning 290 points, and has since charted everywhere from Sweden to – in a somewhat unlikely outcome – Russia.

But just a few short months ago, this small-town drag act couldn’t have been any further from a pop idol. A potent mix of Russian politicians and Twitter trolls saw her ridiculed; accused of turning the show into a “hotbed of sodomy” – which would itself be a great band name.
