GT Porsche  |  March 15
Gleaning information about future Porsche models from official sources ahead of time is often a game of cat-and-mouse. However, at the recent Detroit Auto Show our man in the field, Andrew Frankel, managed to grab confirmation on the future of 911 drivetrains.
Wolfgang Hatz is head of Porsche Research and Development, and is also the man in charge of the Volkswagen Audi Group’s Engine and Transmission Development. The bottom line is he should know what he’s talking about when it comes to Porsche engines. Hatz revealed to Andrew that, as we already suspected, all future 911s (except the forthcoming GT3 RS) will be turbocharged. You can read some of the other information he let slip in this issue - and it's exciting stuff.
Elsewhere in the issue you'll find the latest news on news models, the 991 Targa4 GTS, and the new fourth-generation Cayenne range, most of which we've driven on UK roads for the first time. Our star cover car this month is a rare 1960s 911 T/R, recently rebuilt and returned to its original specification. We also put the 991 50 Years Edition up against the 997 Sport Classic, drive the new Panamera GTS, and delve into the truth about M96 / M97 engine woes.
