Our special theme this month is the naked form. Not
only how it is (and has been) portrayed by artists over time, from the Old Masters of painting to today’s hi-tech digital photographers, but also the nuances of content and context.
There are so many questions. What is art? And what is pornography? How do you differentiate between nude, glamour and pornographic images? Is everything in the eye of the beholder? When you look at a photograph or work of art,
do you merely see what you want to see, and interpret it in exactly the way you want to? Or are you influenced by what others think? Where does the line begin to become blurred between what is considered artistic and what is erotic? Between appreciation and titillation? Or indeed between ‘naturist’ and ‘nude’?
And as if anybody needed convincing that naturists not only come in all shapes and sizes but from all walks of life, we hear thoughts on the subject from – among others – an H&E stalwart, a naturist newbie (and friends), a deaf Swedish photographer and a French tantra teacher.
