LOSS OF TASTE

I enjoy reading Healthy Food Guide, and the varied articles, but may I suggest a topic that I have never seen covered? My mother-in-law suffers from Sjögren’s syndrome and she was telling me she has no interest in food because she has no sense of taste or smell. As she has no pleasure in eating for the taste, I suggested varying texture, but it’s tricky to know where to start. It would be interesting to find out if texture or shapes can make a difference to the enjoyment of food when the principal aspect of taste is lacking. I guess there are other people with the same problem but for different reasons.
