If you thought we’d left poo talk back in the last decade with Gillian McKeith analysing excrement on primetime TV, then we have news. Right now, gut health is a big deal and the conversation is all about poo. Faecal transplants – where a stool sample from one person is transplanted to another to restore the balance of bacteria – are increasingly saving lives, while next month sees the release of the anticipated irst book from Dr Megan Rossi, aka The Gut Health Doctor, who regularly shares her tips for optimal gut health with her 98k+ Instagram followers. There are even products such as the cult Squatty Potty, a footstool which purports to help you poo better. By elevating your knees to a squatting position while on the loo, it claims to protect against everything from pelvic loor problems to constipation. Tech innovators are also getting in on the act, working on smart toilets which will analyse poo for signs of disease.
