Never has an ingredient been so feared, and so revered, as fat. While it remains controversial – with the likes of the Government’s Eatwell guide still instructing us to severely limit the amount we consume, pick low-fat options, and structure diets around healthy carbs – a growing number of experts (and ‘regular’ people!) are switching to low-carb, highfat healthy diets. Keto diets are among the most searched terms on Google, and Paleo remains popular. If you’re interested in switching out some carb-heavy options for high-fat ones, these three recipes, from Sally-Ann Creed, South Africa’s ‘first Paleo nutritionist’ are an uncontroversial place to start – replacing a cerealbased breakfast for an eggy one, cheesy crackers for bread, and a low-carb take on the usual sugar-packed chocolate milkshake.
