From our underarms to our legs, we’re increasingly invited to feel ashamed of our body hair. But the backlash is well underway. So, is it time to reclaim ours? And what are the best ways to keep it under control, naturally?

If you think Netflix eats into too much of your time, how’s this for a statistic? The average woman spends almost two years or 722 days of her life exfoliating, shaving, waxing and plucking her body hair. And it may surprise you to learn that it’s our arm (not underarm) hair we’re obsessing about right now – with 29 per cent of women globally saying they remove it, and beauty professionals reporting an increased demand for it.

As with so much, this latest worry has been largely driven by the intense scrutiny of social media. Just look at the treatment of two different, but both undeniably attractive, women on Instagram last year – who both felt fine about their arm hair but were told otherwise by commenters in no uncertain terms. South African model Candice Swanepoel and London mum Courtney Adamo were both pilloried for their allegedly ‘hairy’ arms, and told they were ‘gross’ on the social media platform.
